WHS officer, based on the lower north shore of Sydney, 120k plus super

A growing and well-established construction business is seeking an experienced Work Health & Safety (WHS) Officer to join its team in Sydney. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio helping to drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance across multiple sites.

Your new role

Reporting to senior management, the WHS Officer will play a key role in supporting project teams through site inspections, audits, compliance monitoring, incident investigations, training, and safety documentation management. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely and in line with legislative and client requirements.

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety observations.
  • Identify hazards and assist in implementing effective risk controls.
  • Support compliance with WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and company procedures.
  • Investigate incidents, hazards and near misses, and assist with corrective actions.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate WHS records and project documentation.
  • Assist with internal, client and third-party audits, including ISO management system requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives and a positive safety culture across projects

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety.
  • Construction Industry White Card.
  • Current Driving Licence.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a WHS role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and construction safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working in construction
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems such as SharePoint and OneDrive.
  • Internal auditing experience or training.
