Your new role

As the Senior Workplace Relations Advisor, you will provide expert guidance on a wide range of workplace relations matters and lead investigations into complex and sensitive issues. Working under broad direction, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy while partnering closely with HR, legal, senior leaders and unions.
  • Delivering timely, expert advice on workplace relations issues, ensuring alignment with policies, legislation and strategic objectives.
  • Leading preliminary assessments and full investigations, including document review, staff interviews and preparing findings and recommendations.
  • Facilitating early interventions and supporting conflict resolution.
  • Coaching HR practitioners and senior leaders to uplift capability and embed best practice.
  • Contributing to the development of workplace relations policies, procedures and educational programs.
  • Managing reporting, compliance, accreditation and supporting the delivery of budgets and resource planning.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships across HR, management, legal and unions.

What you'll need to succeed

You will bring strong technical workplace relations expertise along with exceptional stakeholder management skills. Specifically, you will have:
  • Proven experience managing complex WR/ER matters in a large, unionised organisation (bullying complaints, performance, misconduct etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments and associated regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience conducting formal investigations (highly regarded).
  • Well‑developed relationship‑building, coaching and influencing capabilities, ideally within a higher education environment.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to operate with autonomy and sound judgement.
