This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships and providing practical support across a broad range of people, safety and systems matters.
Your new role
Reporting to the People, Safety & Systems Adviser, you'll provide support across people-related matters, with a strong focus on recruitment, retention and apprentice management. The role will also support employee relations, performance management, workers' compensation, return to work coordination and safety activities. You'll work closely with leaders and team members across the business and will have the opportunity to visit sites across Tasmania. This role can be full time or 0.8FTE.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting people, safety and systems strategies, policies, procedures and processes
- Providing practical support to leaders on performance management, employee relations, industrial relations and coaching
- Leading and monitoring recruitment, onboarding and retention processes
- Overseeing the apprentice lifecycle program and reporting on apprentice progress
- Maintaining the Action HRM platform
- Supporting workers compensation administration and liaising with insurers, rehabilitation providers and medical professionals
- Acting as Return to Work Coordinator across the North and North-West
- Supporting employee engagement activities
- Completing site visits and safety checks
- Providing general support across the People, Safety & Systems team
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you'll bring a practical and relationship-focused approach. You'll be confident working with leaders and employees, and you'll be comfortable balancing HR, safety, systems and administrative priorities.
You'll also bring:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Human Resource Management, leadership or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Current C Class driver's licence
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Ability to self-manage and work across multiple priorities
- A practical and commercially minded approach
- Willingness to travel within Tasmania
Desirable experience:
- An understanding of the construction industry
- White Card
- AHRI membership
