HR Business partner, based in Macquarie with a salary up to $140k plus super

Your new company

A large and progressive local government organisation is seeking an experienced People & Culture Business Partner to join their established People & Culture team. This is a senior generalist role with a strong focus on employee and industrial relations, partnering closely with leaders to deliver practical, compliant and values‑led people solutions.

Your new role

Reporting to a senior People & Culture leader, you will partner with business units across the organisation, providing both strategic and operational HR advice. Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to managers across all aspects of the employee lifecycle
  • Providing expert advice on employment conditions, awards and industrial instruments
  • Managing complex employee and industrial relations matters, including investigations and disciplinary processes
  • Coaching and supporting leaders on performance management and decision-making
  • Preparing correspondence, reports and briefing papers for managers and senior leaders
  • Supporting recruitment and selection processes in collaboration with Talent Acquisition
  • Contributing to the development, implementation and review of People & Culture policies and initiatives
  • Managing and delivering People & Culture projects as required
  • Ensuring transactional HR processes are delivered accurately and in line with legislation and policy

What you'll need to succeed

You are a confident, resilient and relationship‑focused HR professional with a strong ER background. You will bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline
  • Significant experience managing employee and industrial relations matters
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary HR practices and Australian employment legislation
  • Proven ability to interpret awards and industrial instruments and provide clear advice
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and coach leaders
  • Strong written skills with experience preparing reports and correspondence for senior management
  • Highly developed organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and strong Microsoft Office capability
  • Experience within a local or state government environment will be highly regarded.
